Chrome Extension Installation
The EdgeRun.Ai Chrome Extension transforms your browser into a powerful security investigation tool. Follow these steps to install it using Chrome's Developer Mode.
Prerequisites
- Google Chrome or Chromium-based browser (Brave, Edge, etc.)
- EdgeRun.Ai extension files (provided by our team)
- Your server FQDN (received after server setup)
Step-by-Step Installation
Extract the Extension Files
If you received a ZIP file, extract it to a folder on your computer. Remember where you saved it - you'll need this location later.

In your Chrome browser, navigate to the extensions management page:
chrome://extensions/Or go to: Menu (⋮) → Extensions → Manage Extensions
Enable Developer Mode
Look for the "Developer mode" toggle in the top-right corner of the extensions page. Click it to turn it ON.
When enabled, you'll see additional buttons appear: "Load unpacked", "Pack extension", and "Update".
Load the Extension
Click the "Load unpacked" button that appeared after enabling Developer Mode.
Navigate to and select the folder containing the EdgeRun.Ai extension files (the folder with manifest.json).
Verify Installation
The EdgeRun.Ai extension should now appear in your extensions list with a golden shield icon. You should also see it in your browser's extension toolbar (puzzle piece icon).
Pin the Extension (Recommended)
For easy access, pin the EdgeRun.Ai extension to your toolbar:
- Click the puzzle piece icon (Extensions) in Chrome's toolbar
- Find EdgeRun.Ai in the list
- Click the pin icon next to it
- The EdgeRun.Ai icon will now always be visible in your toolbar
Configure the Extension
After installation, you need to connect the extension to your EdgeRun.Ai server:
Open Extension Settings
Click on the EdgeRun.Ai extension icon in your toolbar, then click the settings/gear icon.
Enter Your Server FQDN
In the settings, enter your server address (FQDN) that was provided by the EdgeRun.Ai team:

Enter your login credentials (email and password) provided by the EdgeRun.Ai team. The extension will authenticate with your server.
Verify Connection
Once logged in, the extension icon should show a connected status. You're now ready to start using EdgeRun.Ai!
Troubleshooting Installation
Extension Won't Load
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| "Manifest file is missing or unreadable" | Make sure you selected the correct folder containing manifest.json |
| "Could not load manifest" | Extract all files if using a ZIP; don't select the ZIP itself |
| Extension appears but icon is broken | Try removing and re-adding the extension |
| Developer mode keeps turning off | Some enterprise policies may restrict this - contact your IT team |
Connection Issues
| Issue | Solution |

| "Unable to connect to server" | Verify the FQDN is correct and includes https:// |
| "Authentication failed" | Double-check your email and password; they are case-sensitive |
| "Network error" | Check your internet connection and any firewall/proxy settings |
| SSL certificate errors | Contact support - there may be a certificate issue on the server |
Keeping the Extension Updated
When updates are available, the EdgeRun.Ai team will notify you in Discord. To update:
- Download the new extension files
- Extract them to the same folder (or a new folder)
- Go to
chrome://extensions/ - Click the reload icon on the EdgeRun.Ai extension card
- Or remove and re-add the extension using "Load unpacked"
